Mining

Asteroids come in many different shapes and sizes. These floating space rocks contain vast amounts of unrefined ore, which can be extracted by mining lasers and drones. The type and composition of minerals depends upon the type of unrefined ore an asteroid contains.

To perform mining actions:

• Target a nearby asteroid by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Lock Target' from the menu.
• Next, get closer to the asteroid so your mining laser will be within range. Do this by right-clicking on the asteroid and selecting 'Orbit -> 1 KM.' Your ship will respond and maneuver towards the selected asteroid.
• Once you are within 10,000 meters, left-click on your ship’s mining laser. You will see your mining laser’s cutting beam lance out and strike the target.
• Continue to mine until your cargo hold is full of ore.

After you have a full cargo hold, return to your home station and drop the ore onto your Item/Hangar Floor. Return to the asteroid field and continue mining. You will need a stack of the same type of ore in order to be able to Reprocess it into minerals.

The minimum size of the stack depends on the type of ore:

• Arkonor: 200
• Bistot: 200
• Crokite: 250
• Dark Ochre: 400
• Gneiss: 400
• Hedbergite: 500
• Hemorphite: 500
• Jaspet: 500
• Kernite: 400
• Omber: 500
• Plagioclase: 333
• Pyroxeres: 333
• Scordite: 333
• Spodumain: 250
• Veldspar: 333

Tip: Use survey scanners to determine the type and amount of ore in an asteroid field.
