Getting around

<< The Tutorial | Mining, refining and selling ores >>

An important feature to familiarize yourself with early on is the navigation tool in the top left corner of your screen. This expanding menu will enable you to manuever much more quickly than attempting to rotate your ship and locate navigation icon points surrounding you in space. This icon and your right mouse button will be your most useful allies in the world of Eve. When in doubt, right click.

To navigate in-system, RIGHT-CLICK on the square-lined icon in the top left the screen (located under "Current Location") and make your selections through the navigation targets listed. Local stargates, stations, planets and asteroid fields are all listed. Unless you fear bumping into an enemy vessel, choose to arrive as close to the target as possible.

If you need to head to another system to trade or complete an agent mission, the easiest way to find it is to open the "People and Places" window on your NeoCom. Click to select "Solarsystem" in the "Search" field and enter the destination for the search string. If the system is found, you can RIGHT-CLICK on the name to set it as your destination. Click the "i" icon to find out more about the system and any local station services. To begin your journey, just hit the yellow Autopilot button at the bottom center of the screen in your ship control panel.

Should you start the warp sequence too close to another object, it can temporarily scramble your anti-collision systems. This is especially common when exiting stations. Switch off your Autopilot and double-click away from the object, getting some distance between you and the obstacle before attempting to warp again.
